Raw material consumption Solo

In the field of electric mobility, we distinguish between mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs. Our strategic partner Karma Medical manufactures the electric wheelchairs, while we have developed the entire portfolio of mobility scooters in-house. Our SOLO mobility scooter is a leading high-end product on the European market, known for its excellent performance and comfort. For this reason, we have calculated the CO2 equivalent for the SOLO.

Specification of materials used

The total weight of the SOLO is 140 kg.

Specification of the CO2-equivalent per material

The CO2-equivalent in kg was calculated by multiplying the material weights with the predetermined values from the “Granta Edupack database”. The values in this database were calculated based on the entire production process to obtain 1 kg of material in a final product. For example, in the case of plastic: extracting oil, refining it into basic plastic, and then processing it into the final plastic product. The total value of 1 Solo, weighing 140 kg of raw material, is 559 kg CO2-eq.

Material

CO2-equivalent

The CO2-eq calculated over a 7-year useful life:

Onderdeel Use CO2 kg Factor In 7 jaar
Complete Solo 7 years 559,4 1 559,4
Tires (4 stuks) 3 years 72,46 1 72,46
Batteries 2 years 152,97 2 305,94
Operating film 2 years 0,08 2 0,16
Carbon brushes 2 years 1,61 2 3,22
Totaal 786,52 941,18

Conclusion

The CO2 footprint of producing a mobility scooter averages 134.45 kg per year. (941,18/7)
